On Monday, the Pioneers students got to interview Dr. André Fenton, a neuroscientist from SUNY Downstate. They discussed his and Dr. Todd Sacktor’s groundbreaking studies on memory, his personal journey from the liberal arts to science, the role of international cooperation in scientific endeavors, and the path ahead for neuroscientists.

Dr. Fenton and the moderator, journalist Christie Nicholson, coached the students with interview tips on everything from how to use body language to engage the audience, to how to make complex scientific topics understandable, to how to pack in as much as possible into the allotted time. All the students wished the interview could have gone on longer. As Nibh said, “It was so awesome!”
