Frequently Asked Questions

What is WSF LIVE?

WSF Live is a series of independently organized events hosted by universities, schools, museums, libraries, science clubs and others. We encourage our hosting partners to tailor the experience to their community, supplementing the screenings with their own local experts and speakers and other added features.

What do I need to do to host a WSF Live event?

Each hosting partner is expected to:
– Find and organize a venue to host the screening and any other programming
– Invite local speakers to continue the conversation with your audience after the screening
– Market the screening to local audiences with materials and support provided by WSF
– Share photos and feedback of the event with your audience, your community, and the World Science Festival.

Who can organize an event?

Anyone. Some of our previous partners include universities, museums, cultural organizations, libraries, and science clubs.

What support will WSF offer screening sites?

We’ll provide you with a digital toolkit of marketing materials, such as logos, images, approved text, and the official one sheet to promote your event. The WSF Live team can provide additional program suggestions and guidance as needed. We’ll also help promote your hosted screening on our WSF Live hub page and provide you with guidelines on how to connect with us and other WSF Live partners via social media.

Do WSF Live screenings have to be live? We’re in a different time zone and that makes scheduling difficult.

We encourage partners to screen the programs in real time so that they can experience the excitement of the live show and take advantage of connecting moment-to-moment to the event participants and other WSF Live partners via social media. However, if this is not feasible, programs can be screened at a later date. Contact us for more information.

What are the technical requirements?

You will need a computer, a screen, a projector and speakers. The event will be streamed via Livestream and partners can either embed the link on their own site or access directly from the World Science Festival website.

How much does it cost to be a screening site?

Streaming the WSF program is free. However, you are responsible for presenting costs, such as venue rental and speaking fees. In order to cover these costs, WSF Live partners can charge tickets or seek sponsorship.

Is there a deadline to apply?

No. You can sign up at anytime. You can also host a screening after the festival. For more information, email us.
