Ivan Oransky

Ivan Oransky, MD, is a Distinguished Writer in Residence at New York University’s Arthur Carter Journalism Institute, co-founder of Retraction Watch, and editor at large of MedPage Today. Previously, he was executive editor of Reuters Health and held editorial positions at Scientific American and The Scientist. He and Adam Marcus founded Retraction Watch in 2010. The site, now viewed by 150,000 people per month, has chronicled the continuing rise in scientific retractions and has been cited often in the scientific literature as a source for a better understanding of the true reasons for retraction. Oransky and Marcus also have a weekly column in STAT, called The Watchdogs. He has written for numerous other publications, including Nature, The New Republic, and The New York Times. He is also vice president of the Association of Health Care Journalists.
