Johnny Luo

Atmospheric Scientist

Johnny Luo received his BS from Peking University in 1997 and Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2003, both in atmospheric sciences. He joined the faculty of the City College of New York in 2007 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2012. Luo’s research interest is satellite remote sensing of clouds and storms. He is a science team member of NASA CloudSat/CALIPSO mission. Recently, he has served as a Science Leader of the NASA SEAC4RS mission, during which he led NASA’s DC-8 to fly into Hurricane Ingrid.
