Martijn van Calmthout

Martijn van Calmthout is the chief science editor of the Dutch newspaper ‘de Volkskrant’. He studied physics at the University of Utrecht and writes about the natural sciences. He is the author of the biographical Einsteins Licht, the Survivalgids voor de Toekomst and many other popular books. He is one of the creators of the bestselling BètaCanon and composer of Brieven aan Darwin. Van Calmthout is the host of a monthly live science debate in KennisCafé De Balie in Amsterdam, and presenter of NTR’s HoeZo-radioshow. He currently works on the first biography of physicist and war hero Sam Goudsmit, and the travel guide Waar ligt Lorentz?, a journey along all 20 Dutch Nobel Prize laureates.
