Modern MacGyver: The Camel Fridge
Supplies to remote areas in rural Kenya—home of dusty villages that are inaccessible by Land Rovers—must be transported by camelback. This causes many devastating challenges for the delivery of vaccines and other vital medical supplies, many of which are rendered useless if exposed to the extreme sub-Saharan heat. Winston Soboyejo and his students of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Princeton University came up with an innovative solution with a DIY flair: solar-powered refrigerators on camelback.
