The Promise of Regenerative Medicine
Biomedical gerontologist Aubrey de Grey has famously predicted that the first person to live to a thousand has already been born. He explains that the key may be in regenerative medicine, the practice of rejuvenating aging tissues with fresh stem cell therapies. Such therapies are already being performed, with promising results. The real glimmer of hope for his prediction is that this rejuvenation could be carried out later in life, in effect extending one’s lifespan indefinitely.
