Lela DeVineWSS Community Coordinator

Lela DeVine is a recent graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University, where she earned a degree in Molecular Biology with minors in Science & Public Policy and Anthropology. With a foundation in the sciences, she has conducted and published research in marine sciences, pharmacology, and cancer biology. Most recently, Lela worked in the Stockwell Laboratory at Columbia. Originally from Hilo, Hawai’i, Lela has a passion for environmental and ocean advocacy, which centers on science communication and education, policy engagement, and sustainable research practices. She has served as Secretary of the Board of Directors at EarthEcho International and was recently a member of NOAA’s Marine and Coastal Area-based Management (MCAM) Advisory Committee.
