About the World Science Scholars:
The World Science Scholars (WSS) program focuses on identifying and selecting a small group of students worldwide who have demonstrated extraordinary mathematical talent, and providing them with a unique opportunity to: (1) vastly expand their perspective by exploring new arenas in which to apply their abilities, guided by renowned scientists and thinkers, (2) deepen their knowledge by grappling with challenging mathematical ideas in new and unfamiliar contexts, and (3) open new pathways along which their talent can flourish, facilitating their potential to spark revolutionary breakthroughs.
About the Opportunity:
We are looking for someone who is collaborative, reliable, with strong communication skills. As the WSS Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on professional experience as you own day-to-day tasks, help with special projects, and attend departmental meetings.
This is a paid internship. Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.
This is an in-office position at WSF’s New York office five days a week.
Weekly schedule: 9:30am-5:30pm, with a one-hour lunch break.
The hourly rate for an undergraduate student intern is $18.
The hourly rate for a graduate student intern is $20.
Responsibilities:
Scope of Work includes, without limitation, the areas below:
- Help schedule, plan, and support virtual and in-person WSS and WSF events
- Help write and send event reminders, newsletters and other relevant communications to scholars and alumni
- Assist with the new WSS cohort’s onboarding and orientation
- Update alumni database
- Review and update professor bios for the new WSS website
- Transfer courses from old WSS website to new website
- Review and update course descriptions for WSS courses
- Review courses and leave feedback, as needed
- Assist with administrative tasks and assignments from other departments, as assigned
- Other responsibilities as needed
Required Criteria
- Candidates may be recent graduates or students currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Knowledge of computers and various office applications to include Excel or another spreadsheet program
- Ability to work independently
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills
