Yury Gogotsi

Material Scientist

Yury Gogotsi is Distinguished University Professor and Trustee Chair of Materials Science and Engineering at Drexel University in Philadelphia. He is the founding Director of the A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute and Associate Editor of ACS Nano. He works on development of nanostructured carbons, and 2D carbides and nitrides for energy and biomedical applications. He discovered many new materials and he also takes his discoveries to commercialization. He has co-authored two books, more than 500 journal papers and obtained more than 60 patents. He has received numerous national and international awards for his research. He has also been recognized as Highly Cited Researcher by Thomson-Reuters (currently, Clarivate Analytics) in 2014, 2015, 2016 and elected as a Fellow of the American Association for Advancement of Science, Materials Research Society, Royal Society of Chemistry, The Electrochemical Society, and American Ceramic Society, as well as a member of the World Academy of Ceramics.
