Emily McKhann is a strategic communications professional who has spent her career working with the world’s leading non-profits, corporations, and agencies.

For twelve years, McKhann was co-founder and CEO of The Motherhood, an award-winning social impact agency. The Motherhood, founded in 2006, innovatively leveraged the web to advance and inspire social good. At The Motherhood, McKhann launched global campaigns for ONE, the UN Foundation, the Gates Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and others. She was named a Top 25 Blogger Changing the World, a Forty Over 40 Women To Watch in 2016, and received the 2014 Enterprising Women of the Year Award. Her team’s work earned Webby, Iris and PRSA Awards. McKhann sold the company in 2018.

Before founding The Motherhood, McKhann ran strategic communications firms based in New York City and Dallas, TX. During this time, she advised senior leadership teams at CBS, AT&T, Scholastic, and American Express, and others. Prior to that, she was Director of International Business and Commissioner to the United Nations for New York City. She co-authored the bestselling book Living with the End in Mind, published by Crown Books and featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

She has served on various not-for-profit boards and advisory committees, including St. Paul’s School in Baltimore, ONE, the National Wildlife Federation, the Creative Visions Foundation, Healthy Child Healthy World, and MomsRising.
