Daphna Shohamy

Neuroscientist

Daphna Shohamy, PhD is a neuroscientist and a professor in the department of Psychology and the Zuckerman Mind, Brain, Behavior Institute at Columbia University. Dr. Shohamy’s research aims to understand the neurobiological and cognitive mechanisms underlying learning, memory, and decision making. Her research combines functional magnetic resonance brain imaging in healthy humans with studies of patients with specific brain disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, and eating disorders. Her work has yielded insights into how the brain changes with learning, how memories are created and retrieved, and how memory shapes our decisions, our actions, and our selves. Dr. Shohamy’s scientific contributions have been recognized by numerous awards and by funding from the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Health, and the McKnight Foundation.
