Friedrich Soltau

Sustainable Development Practitioner

Friedrich Soltau is a Senior Sustainable Development Officer in the UN Department for Economic and Social Affairs. For the past 15 years he has worked on a range of issues at the intersection of climate change, energy, new and emerging issues, and sustainable development goals (SDGs). He was a member of the core team that supported the UN General Assembly negotiations on the SDGs. Since then, he has been involved in the follow-up and review of the SDGs, in particular through the voluntary national reviews at the 2016 and 2017 meetings of the high-level political forum on sustainable development (HLPF). He received his law degree from the University of Cape Town, and he also holds a Masters in Law from the Humboldt University, Berlin, and a doctorate in environmental law from Pace University Law School, New York.
