Kirsten MacDonell

Engineer

Kirsten is the Research and Payloads Group Lead at the European Space Agency’s Directorate of Human and Robotic Exploration. In that role, she leads a team of expert scientists and engineers who define and develop the scientific experiments and demonstrate the technology that could enable human exploration and habitation beyond Earth, and that encompasses many things: what kind of hardware ESA astronauts will need in space; how their time will be utilized among the experiments they are required to conduct; what kind of life support they will get, both in the capsule and on the surface of the moon or Mars.
