Lara Anderson is an Assistant Professor of Physics and Affiliate Professor of Mathematics, and currently a Hamlett Fellow in Integrated Science at Virginia Tech. She is currently visiting faculty at the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on linked problems in algebraic geometry, high energy particle physics, and string theory. After completing her PhD at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, she held postdoctoral research positions at the University of Pennsylvania, The Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, and Harvard University. Her work is supported by the National Science Foundation. She is also a long-standing advocate for women and minorities in physics.
