Marlee Matlin’s first film Children of a Lesser God garnered her the Academy Award for Best Actress. At 21 she became the youngest recipient and only one of four actresses to receive the honor for a film debut. In addition to numerous films, Matlin has also made her mark in television. Twice nominated for a Golden Globe Award as Best Actress in a Television Drama and nominated for four Emmy awards she has starred in numerous shows including Seinfeld, Law and Order: SVU, The West Wing, The L Word, Switched at Birth, and Quantico. In 2015 she made her Broadway debut in the Tony-nominated revival of Spring Awakening. Matlin has authored three books for children and her New York Times bestselling autobiography I’ll Scream Later, and recently developed an app for teaching American Sign Language called “Marlee Signs.”
