Melissa Lee

Educator, Biologist

Melissa Lee is an educator and researcher. She received a B.A. in biology from Johns Hopkins University, with her primary research focusing on Down syndrome. After college, Lee worked at New York University, studying mouse brain development. She enjoyed research, but decided to switch gears and try her hand at teaching. Lee became an NYC public high school teacher and taught science. She was then offered a job as manager of the Harlem DNA lab, which is part of the DNA Learning Center at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. As the current manager, she teaches genetics concepts to students through hands-on learning activities. This job allows her to focus on her two loves, teaching and research.
