Paul Glimcher

Neuroscientist, Economist

Paul Glimcher began his professional career as a neurobiologist interested in how the brain makes decisions. Over the years he has explored many other scientific disciplines that are also concerned with how we make decisions. These other disciplines range from economics to psychology to anthropology. Today, he combines all of those disciplines in a new academic field often called Neuroeconomics. As one of the worlds leading experts on decision making, he studies human and animal behavior using techniques ranging from brain scanning to field studies. At New York University he serves as director of the Institute for the Interdisciplinary Study of Decision Making, the largest decision-science research unit in the world.
