Stavros Lomvardas

Neuroscientist

Stavros Lomvardas is a professor of biochemistry and neuroscience at Zuckerman Institute at Columbia University. Lomvardas completed his graduate and post-graduate work at Columbia University, and started his independent career as an assistant professor at University of California, San Francisco. He joined Columbia University as faculty in 2014. His laboratory studies the molecular mechanisms that coordinate the stochastic expression of odorant receptor genes in olfactory neurons, with the goal of understanding the evolutionary mechanisms that shape sensory perception. Lomvardas was born and raised in Greece where he went to college at the University of Crete.
