Vincent A. Fischetti

Research Scientist
Vincent A. Fischetti Ph.D. is Professor and Head of the Laboratory of Bacterial Pathogenesis and Immunology at the Rockefeller University in New York. Fischetti’s research has focused on developing alternative methods to control bacterial infections. In this regard he is the first to use phage lysins as therapeutic agents and a phage lysin is currently in phase 2 human trials. He is the recipient of two prestigious NIH MERIT awards and is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Microbiology and the National Academy of Inventors. Fischetti holds 33 U.S. and international patents eight of which have been licensed to a total of 3 companies. He is the scientific founder of SIGA Technologies and Avacyn Pharmaceuticals. Fischetti has published 223 primary articles is a coeditor of 3 books and has written 89 book chapters. He has been the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Infection and Immunity for 10 years.
