Jamie Metzl

Technology Futurist

Jamie Metzl is a leading futurist, geopolitical expert, science fiction novelist, and Senior Fellow of the Atlantic Council. He was recently appointed to the World Health Organization expert advisory committee on human genome editing. Metzl previously served in the US National Security Council, State Department, and Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and with the United Nations in Cambodia. He is the author of a history of the Cambodian genocide, the historical novel The Depths of the Sea, and the genetics sci-fi thrillers Genesis Code and Eternal Sonata, and his new book Hacking Darwin: Genetic Engineering and the Future of Humanity. An avid ironman triathlete and ultramarathoner and former White House Fellow and Aspen Institute Crown Fellow, Metzl holds a PhD in Asian history from Oxford, a JD from Harvard Law School, and is a Phi Beta Kappa Magna cum Laude graduate of Brown University.
