Lauren Sherman

Research Psychologist

Lauren Sherman is a psychology and neuroscience researcher who studies social media use in adolescence and across the lifespan. Her research investigates the role of new media and digital communication in shaping social and brain development, particularly during adolescence. Dr. Sherman is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Psychology at Temple University and a Visiting Assistant Professor at Haverford College. She earned her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology at UCLA where she conducted what is believed to be the first study of brain responses during social media use. Dr. Sherman’s research has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Economist, and on NPR’s Morning Edition, and published in the journals Psychological Science, Developmental Psychology, and Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience.
