Tamara Tunie

Tamara Tunie is a versatile actress who consistently garners praise and recognition for her work on the big and small screens, in theater, and in her community. She currently stars in the upcoming AMC dark comedy Dietland as Julia with Joy Nash and Julianna Margulies. She also stars in an upcoming BBC/Netflix limited series, Hugo Blick directed international drama, Black Earth Rising with John Goodman and Michaela Cole. She also starred in AMC’s The Red Road opposite Jason Momoa and Julianne Nicholson. She recently co-wrote and directed Jazzland: in Concert presented by the Harlem School of the Arts/Theater Department in partnership with Manhattan School of Music and Harlem Stage. Her stage work includes starring in Tony Award-winning Playwright Robert Schenkkan’s political suspense thriller Building the Wall, in an Obie winning turn as Marvelous in Danai Gurira’s Familiar, as Kendra in the Barrington Stage Company’s American Son, and in Steven Soderbergh’s The Library at The Public Theater. Beyond acting, producing and directing, Tunie is deeply engaged in community and philanthropic efforts.
