Heather McKellar

Neuroscientist

Heather McKellar received her Ph.D. from Columbia where she studied the hippocampus, a part of the brain important for learning and memory. Now at the NYU Neuroscience Institute, she is passionate about education and runs the graduate program in Neuroscience and Physiology as well as NOGN, the Neuroscience Outreach Group at NYU. She sends brain scientists into the community to share their love of science through classroom visits, brain fairs, and brain health lectures. McKellar also helps lead braiNY, the Greater NYC Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience, which brings together multiple area institutions to celebrate brain science.
