Sri Sarma

Biomedical Engineer

Sridevi Sarma received her B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University; and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Brain and Cognitive Sciences Department at MIT, and is now an assistant professor in the Institute for Computational Medicine, Department of Biomedical Engineering, at Johns Hopkins University. Her lab seeks to understand neuronal patterns in the central nervous system in both health and in disease. Sarma applies computational techniques to model neuronal behaviors and her applications span Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, brain-machine interfaces, chronic pain, decision making, and sleep. She is a recipient of the National Science Foundation graduate research fellow, the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Careers at the Scientific Interface Award, the Krishna Kumar New Investigator Award from the North American Neuromodulation Society, and the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.
