Steven Pinker

Steven Pinker serves as the Johnstone Family Professor of Psychology at Harvard University, where he conducts research on language, cognition, and human nature. He is the author of several bestselling books, including The Language Instinct, How the Mind Works, The Blank Slate, The Better Angels of Our Nature, Enlightenment Now and When Everyone Knows That Everyone Knows. Pinker has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences, and was named one of Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” in 2004. He has also received the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in 2022 for his work in humanities and social sciences. Pinker’s work bridges rigorous experimental psychology with widely accessible writing on how reason, science and humanism shape the arc of civilization.
